Android Dominates Smartphone Market for First Quarter in U.S

comScore, a leading Internet Analytics Company released all the statistics about the smartphone manufacturer and operating system for the first quarter of 2013 in the U.S market. The infographics shows that the Android continues to dominate the market share for operating system with 52%. This is however below the market share of Android in December 2012 when it occupied 53.4% of the market. Other giants like Blackberry and Nokia also took a beating with Blackberry and Nokia occupying 5.2% and 0.5% of the market respectively. However Apple’s iOS and Microsoft’s Windows has gained significant points in this quarter and occupied 39% and 3% of the market respectively.

Q1 2013 Operating System ShareComing to manufacturer market share, Apple continues to hold its top spot firmly. It has seen a surge of 2.7% and stands at the top with 39% share of the market. Samsung comes next to Apple with 21.7% of the market share. Another companies like HTC, Motorola and LG occupies 9%, 8.5% and 6.8% of the market respectively.

This result may have brought a smile on Apple fans and investors but the situation is going to change surely in the next quarter with the release of Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One. While Android is expected to strengthen its top position in operating system market, Samsung may give a stiff challenge to Apple in manufactures market.
